SchoolCenter PictureJGMS GATE COORDINATOR: Mike Gubler

John Glenn Middle School is a dynamic setting where students are academically challenged and emotionally supported.  They attend seven classes a day based on International Baccalaureate standards.  In addition to basic coursework, they each take a three-year program of world language.  Their elective choices include technology, video productions, the history of rock and roll, as well as beginning and advanced art, band, and drama.  GATE students are placed in fast-moving, in-depth language arts and math courses.  Teleconferencing is available for access to high school geometry.  Gate-clustered classes occur in each of the six academies.  Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to participate in special activities that appeal to them and match their talents.  These include Odyssey of the Mind, Robotics, Science Fair, History Day, and the Spelling Bee.  They can also reach out to others through W.E.B. (Where Everybody Belongs) or training as a peer mediator.  We also offer Renaissance and ASB.  In many instances, students from John Glenn have gone on to compete and win academic and creative honors at district and county levels.  For more information, you may email Mike Gubler (michael.gubler@dsusd.us).  Feel free to call us at 200-3700.
