"How To" Do an Archaeological Dig

6th Grade Expository Writing

In an attempt to provide all my 6th grade students with a hands-on window into the past, my classes will be doing a JGMS campus mock archaeological dig.  Parent volunteers have been a tremendous help to me in burying the "artifacts" for the students to scientifically discover, map, measure, describe, sort, package and label.  After experiencing the process, collaborative work groups will discuss their findings and come up with a theory, which will serve as the "reason" and "purpose" for mankind to do archaeological digs.  This will be their introduction for their "How to" paper.  **See packet materials by clicking icon below.**
