Meet the Teachers!

Miss Morgan

Hi, I am Julia Morgan.  I am so excited to be the newest member to the Washington Charter Kindergarten Team.  I grew up in northern California in the small town of Clayton.  I received my bachelors degree at Chico State, my teaching credential at Cal State Hayward, and a GATE certificate at UC Riverside.

I moved to the desert after I got my teaching credential. I have taught kindergarten at Truman and Roosevelt Elementary Schools. I am glad to have finally found my home at Washington Charter School. I have been in the desert for 7 years now. In my free time, I enjoy reading, being outdoors, playing with my dogs Jordan and Lollie, and spending quality time with my friends and family.

Mrs. Blakey

Hi, I am Nicole Blakey.  This is my 6th year teaching kindergarten here at Washington Charter School.  Before WCS I taught 3rd grade at Adams Elementary School.  I grew up in West Salem, Wisconsin—Go Packers!  I moved to California in 1997 to finish out my college career.  I received my B. A., multiple subject teaching credential, and Masters degree from Chapman University.  I am married and have two children.  Isaiah is now an 8th grader over at PDCMS, while Savannah is a 3rd  grader here at WCS!  In my free time I like to read, watch movies, play games and hang out with family and friends!

I am looking forward to a new and exciting year with your children. Welcome to all new families entering WCS, and of course, a big welcome back to our returning families!

Mrs. Housken

Hi, I am Kristine Housken.  I have been a part of the Washington Charter family for almost four years now!  I am thrilled to be a part of the Kindergarten team as we continue to refine and reorganize Kindergarten.  It has been a lot of fun, and a lot of work to create a “new and improved” Kindergarten program!  Teaching Kindergarten has become a love of mine, as I am truly amazed by the growth students achieve in one year!  Our students are one of a kind, as is our incredibly supportive parent base.

Before Washington Charter, I taught 2nd grade and Kindergarten at Roosevelt Elementary.  I grew up in Del Mar, Ca and moved to the desert after college.  I received my B.A. and my credential at Cal Poly Pomona.  I am currently working on my Administrative credential and my Masters in Education Administration at CSUSB.  I got married this summer to my wonderful husband, Wade Housken!  (So if you see me named as Miss Cattedra, my name change is a work in progress at this time!!)  I have been living in the desert for 5 years now.  In my free time, I like reading, playing with my two dogs Caddy and Penny, and spending quality time with family and friends.
