The Golden Goblet is a children's historical novel by Eloise Jarvis McGraw.  It is a Newberry award winner, set in 1400 B.C., Thebes, Egypt.  The story tells of a young boy named Ranofer who fights an internal conflict over revealing a hideous crime.  He has lost both parents, and is forced to live with an abusive older step brother.

This story overlaps 6th grade Humanities with its description of Thebes (modern day Luxor) and the lives of Egyptians during the Pharaonic Period.
