LA QUINTA HIGH SCHOOL
CAMERATA LA QUINTA
BLACKHAWKS ON BROADWAY
MIXED CHORUS/WOMEN’S CHOIR
Instructor: Ms. Terri Ridilla
La Quinta High School offers vocal music to all interested students in grades 9-12. Camerata La Quinta is an audition ensemble. Members were selected after auditioning last year. Camerata La Quinta is the official performing ensemble that represents La Quinta High at off campus engagements. There are two other choirs, Blackhawks on Broadway and Women’s Chorus. They will also sing at various performances on and off campus. After school groups for everyone include Hawkettes and Chromatics and CLQ Chamber Singers.
This year students will have the opportunity of being selected for the Tri-M-Society (Modern Music Masters) a national music honorary. Selection is based on academic GPA, a music grade, performance and involvement in the choir classes and its extra curricular activities. Students will also be evaluated on their enthusiasm, level of commitment, and positive attitude in and out of music classes.
In order to pass these performance classes, each student is required to perform in all concerts. The performances and rehearsals act as a final. Required performances include the Holiday and Spring Concerts. Many performance opportunities arise as the year progresses. Students are expected to participate. CLQ and Blackhawks on Broadway members are required to be in the annual March production of Blackhawks on Broadway.

CHORAL PERFORMANCE CLASSES
Rules and Expectations
Camerata La Quinta, Chamber Honors, Blackhawks on Broadway and Mixed Choir are
performance classes. Performances may be during the day, nights and/or weekends. Participation is mandatory. Work or lack of transportation are not excuses since students are given the schedule well in advance and can make necessary arrangements. Every effort is made among peers to provide rides for everyone.
Attendance at all rehearsals in necessary and mandatory. We are “the singing team” of La Quinta High. Every voice is important. One missing person can make a significant difference. If you miss rehearsals, you will not receive points and may not be permitted to sing in the required concerts. You might also receive a non passing grade.
Fundraisers: Please participate in all fundraisers. These events give you an opportunity to meet members from the other choirs. They will also provide monies to buy choir shirts, snacks and to support Blackhawks on Broadway 2014 . Choir seniors have never been assessed for closing concert and award expenses due to our fundraising. Let’s keep the tradition going.
UC Approval: Tests, quizzes, singing individuals and sectionals will be a part of the evaluation process. Building a repertoire of Classical music will also be included this year.
Grading: Aligns with the policy established by DSUSD.
Classroom Etiquette: Refers to guidelines pertaining to food, gum, soda, and cell phone use during class. TALKING while I am teaching seriously jeopardizes the learning process of other students. It is also rude. Please do not jeopardize your grade by not following these simple classroom rules.
*AWARDS: including Choir letters, Arion, director’s awards and GRADUATION CORDS
Will not be awarded to anyone with UNEXCUSED absences. This is a MAJOR change. Please note and keep in mind when missing classes.
I have read these requirements and classroom behavior expectations. I understand my responsibilities and look forward to representing La Quinta High as a member of its Vocal Music Program. I will give my level best in class and at all rehearsals and performances.
