I am honored to be in my fifth full year as principal of Amistad High School. I began in March of 2004 and have enjoyed each and every day of my time here.
I graduated from University of California, Riverside in 1976 with a degree in Political Science. I earned my teaching credential in social studies, government, and PE in 1977. Following several years as a teacher, I earned my master's degree in educational administration at Chapman University in 1997 along with my Administrative Credential. I completed my Professional Administrative Services Credential in 2002 at Azusa Pacific University.
Prior to being selected as principal at Amistad I spent 7 years as an assistant principal at Indio High School from 1997 until 2004. My connections with the staff and students of Indio High School remain strong.
I have spent most of my educational career here at Amistad High School. My first full-time teaching position was as a social studies teacher at Amistad while we were still located on the Indio High School campus. The following year, 1982 we moved to the temporary site next door to our current location. I then left the area for three years and returned in 1990 when we opened the current Amistad site.
My future career plans are to stay here at Amistad High School as principal. I believe I have found my niche in education. My heart is here with the staff, students, and parents of Amistad High School. In my few remaining years as principal, I hope to lead Amistad High School to new and exciting heights and to leave here knowing we have together built the best continuation school in California.
