Welcome to Ronald Reagan Elementary School, home of the "Regal Eagles." Our school was dedicated October 11, 2006, with Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack in attendance. A beautiful letter written by Nancy Reagan was read at the ceremony encouraging all the children to live her late husband's dream of making this a better world. Reagan Elementary has quickly grown. This year, our diverse learning community includes over 850 students in grades K through 5. In 2010, the school received recognition as a "California Distinguished School." With a motto of "learning today, leading tomorrow," Reagan Elementary embraces all of our students, supporting them in a nurturing and caring environment. Students are challenged daily to meet the rigorous state standards as they create their own brilliant futures. The entire learning community of Reagan Elementary recognizes each child's potential and contribution to our whole. Students attending Reagan are taught by a dynamic and experienced team of caring professionals, utilizing 21st century tools. Each employs research based educational strategies to ensure that all students are prepared not only for middle school but beyond. We work to ensure that each child is given the competency necessary to become a lifelong learner and responsible contributing citizen. Our parents/guardians, volunteers, and community partners, help provide the support and interaction, through their regular involvement, that contributes to a wonderful joint venture between home, school and community, benefiting all the children at Reagan Elementary.
In addition to our regular rigorous academic program, students at Reagan benefit from a wide variety of extracurricular experiences and community partnerships that routinely enhance the quality, breadth, and depth of each child's educational experience. Our 21st Century Grant managed by Desert Recreation District provides after school and weekend enrichment to more than 100 of our students which includes: homework help, reading support, science exploration, SPARKS, physical education, computer aided instruction, drama, and tennis among other activities. Partnerships with the community include: La Quinta Arts Foundation (4th and 5th grade fine art enrichment), First Tee - Golf instruction, Red Hot Ballroom sponsored by (Indio Performing Arts Center) - ballroom dancing, Tools for Tomorrow - A Program in the Arts, Beginning Strings - sponsored by CV Symphony, Robotics and competitive Robotics - a collaborative partnership with SMART Education, Mini-Muster with PD Fire Dept, Beyond the Beat dance studio, McCallum Theatre Institute - Aesthetic Education Program.
