Independent Study (I.S)Grades 9-12

 

This strategy provides a learning experience for students, grades 9–12, whose needs may be best met through study outside of a traditional classroom setting.This is a voluntary program designed to return students to the regular instructional program at the comprehensive school and/or to assist students to progress toward high school graduation.Independent Study is available to all students who are able to learn independently.As a voluntary alternative, a person may apply for admission to I.S. either directly or by referral of a counselor or administrator.Students enrolled in I.S generally meet with their teachers on a weekly appointment basis.They will meet up to five teachers in specific academic areas during this weekly session. Opportunity is the classroom option for I.S. classes completed in I.S. range from general to college prep according to state regulations.
